Working from home? Here’s how to deal with interruptions

Work life balance is a big challenge for majority of women in the Gulf. Meanwhile, to meet the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan targeted to increase the women’s participation in the workforce from 22% to 30%. So the Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) is designing to create more than 1.4 lakh remote jobs for Gulf women by 2020.

Working from home is the latest trend and many companies are encouraging their employees to work remotely. Recent survey mentioned that more than half of surveyed workforce will work remotely by 2020. They survey also found that the Ministry of Labor and Social Development (MLSD) is planning to create over 1.4 lakh remote jobs for women by 2020. The study also mentioned that, while 82 per cent of all interrupted work is completed on the same day and it takes an average of 23 minutes and 15 seconds for people to get back to the task. Following rules can help you in avoiding work from home interruptions:

Communicate with your family: Mention with your family that why it’s crucial that you mustn’t be disturbed. So take nessacary precautions to avoid barriers at work from home.
Use a don’t disturb sign: If you have a separate room for work then use a don’t disturb sign outside the door. Then it may create a work environment to work without any disturbances.

Balancing household chores: While you are working from home, you will be required to do some household chores from time to time like answering the door or the telephone and picking up kids from school. So, maintain a schedule for both. Clear communication, time management and perfect planning can make work from home a winning career move for you.
