Recent report has mentioned that flexible workplace is the top priority for job seekers. Over 40 percent job seekers mentioned that schedule flexibility is the top three factors in making right career decision as per the survey findings. More than one third of surveyed candidates believed that there is no need to sit at the desk to perform official tasks. The survey was conducted among 15000 locations across 19 countries. Flexible arrival and departure times and full-time work from home or location independence are common facts that are the most sought-after attributes of flexible workplace policies, according to the survey.
While 26 percent candidates responded that flexible arrival and departure times are most important in job search. The other things like the ability to work from home or any other place are matters in job search mentioned by 23 percent people.
Many companies are offering schedule flexibility driven by wide range of factors like presence of multinational companies or unions at a given location. Commuting times will be impacted by other things like technology firms in the marketplace, workforce composition such as proportion of millennials and public transportation.
However work place flexibility does not mean that working remotely. Flexibility work arrangements include care giving leaves and taking breaks and work from home facilities. Here these flexible options are not accommodated to all employees, only few while no employer can accommodate every option, they can provide a range that appeals to a variety of candidates.
The survey finally concluded that organizations need to revive their current work models that focus on presenters over performance. Companies need to shift towards the needs of employees to meet the candidate expectations around schedule flexibility which will have the scope of recruiting and retaining the best talent. It is also advised to the employees to align them to the flexible workplace.
