A recent survey by recruitment firm found that flexibility at workplace make employees happy enhances productivity. More than 70 percent of participated in the survey mentioned that work from home boosts productivity. As India Inc is gradually moving towards flexible work options which it believes is making employees more productive. An online survey conducted among India Inc employers believe that allowing employees to work from home boosts their productivity and it was also believed that employees may soon find themselves sharing office space with fewer colleagues. Some respondents also mentioned that flexibility at workplace made employees happy. The same study highlighted that about 60 per cent of the organisations have a formal policy on workplace flexibility.
But experts believe that work from option also depends upon the nature of the job. It requires self-driven, disciplined and focused then working from home is actually excellent. An individual contributor can do an excellent job from work at home. If your job require other stakeholders involved in your everyday work, then it can get tough to manage. The interesting fact is that close to 60 per cent of the organisations are likely to implement more flexibility work options in the near future. Some of the surveyed respondents believe that Working from home as a trend will continue to rise in the coming months as more working teams are becoming virtual and spread across different goes both domestic and international. But HR experts cautioned that working from home needed to be handled with care.
At the same time work from home also have merits and demerits. While it does have its merits of promoting work-life balance needs and minimizing logistic overheads, such initiatives also have an impact on team culture and bonding. Nowadays many startups and established firms are also encouraging their employees to work from home to balance the work-life.
