Nearly 233,000 H-1B visa applications are received for the fiscal year 2016 from the science, engineering and computer programming applicants. There is a maximum cap of 85,000 of the work visas including 20,000 for holders of master’s degrees. According the website of US citizenship and Immigration Services, they will start the lottery process to dole out the visas, and will start processing them by 11 May. This year, employers had a mere 36% chance of being granted an H-1B visa. Year after year, the government falls back on a lottery system to determine which US employers will ‘win’ the ability to hire top world talent, said executive director of the Council for Global Immigration.
