Star recruiter McKinsey to avoid the placement process at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campuses, and planning to hire graduates directly through its alumni network, website and social media. McKinsey will be hiring graduates from the IIT class of 2016 through interviews conducted at its offices. Mckinsey wanted to limit the firm’s visits only to a few campuses, while it wanted partners to meet all the candidates before making an offer. It was found that McKinsey’s rival Boston Consulting Group has already made offers across campuses, including IIT Kharagpur and IIT Guwahati, through the off-campus route before placements begin. Both McKinsey pay Rs 13 lakh for business analyst role and BCG pay Rs 15 lakh for IITians for associate positions.
