Sony to cut 1,000 jobs: Sources

Sony plans to cut around 1,000 additional jobs in its struggling smartphone division as it tries to bring its electronics business back into the black, sources said. Sony would be eliminating its mobile unit as the company said that it has been suspending dividend payments for the first time amid weakness in smartphones. These job cuts would be mainly in Europe and China which means only mobile division workforce will shrink by about 30% to 5,000 by the end of the fiscal year ending March 2016. The company has great struggle to get market share between the competitive firms like Apple and Samsung.
