According to the latest survey on distractions at work place revealed that e-commerce portals and shopping websites are the major points of distractions at work place. But it was also known that the major distraction at Indian offices is co-workers and above mentioned. Nearly 36 percent of the employees mentioned that co workers are the biggest cause of distraction. Nearly 35 percent of the employees mentioned that they distracted by social networking sites at work. Remaining 16 percent of employees voted for the e-commerce portals and shopping websites. But only 13 percent of people mentioned that they distract from family and friends at work. But these results are different for men and women.
Female employees: Nearly 37 percent of female participants responded that social networking sites were the biggest cause of distraction, 32 percent mentioned co-workers and 21 percent mentioned shopping websites and remaining 10 percent distracted by family and friends.
Male employees: Nearly 42 percent of the surveyed male employees responded that colleagues/coworkers were the biggest distraction followed by social networks at 33 per cent. But, only 13 percent distracted by the e-commerce portals and family and friends.
Distraction factors also differ by the experience levels.
0-2 years experience: Nearly, 50 per cent of the respondents were distracted by shopping sites/e-commerce portals and social networks.
2-5 years experience: Nearly, 40 per cent felt that they were distracted by colleagues/coworkers and 33 percent of them by social networks.
5-10 years experience: Nearly, 47 per cent of the respondents were distracted by social networks and only 7 per cent get distracted by family and friends.
10-20 years experience: Nearly, 55 per cent of the respondents felt that coworkers were the biggest distraction in office. 18 per cent said family and friends and social networks were equally responsible for distracting them at work.
