Banking and financial sector expanding their network to hire from rural areas and hiring from tier-3 to tier-6 regions now forms 50-80% of the total recruitment. HDFC is planning to hire nearly 12000 for this financial year from semi-urban and rural locations, a majority of the hiring is taking place in tier-4 to tier-5 cities. Over last five years Axis bank also expanding their network in Tier II and Tier III cities. With branches opening in tier-2 and -3 cities, the bank’s strategy has been to focus on hiring local talent. The employment generation from local talent is critical for customer service. DCB Bank, which hires around 60% from tier-3 to tier-6 locations, sees a lot of business potential in these locations. According to a report over 22 million youth look to move from rural belts to urban areas in search of employment over a ten-year horizon.
