Only 30% UAE employers look for qualifications and 40% look for communication skills: Survey

According to a study, employers in the UAE are lookout for certain personality traits, skills and qualifications when hiring a new employee. Employers looking for the candidates who can speak English and Arabic and can demonstrate grace under pressure. The survey has been conducted among UAE and other parts of the Middle East and North Africa (Mena), more than half of the respondents said that their company values candidates who are team players. UAE companies looking for the candidates with strong communication skills in Arabic and English and efficiency (45%), productivity (42%) and leadership (40%) skills are also highly valued skills of UAE working respondents. Over 40% of employers are looking for the candidates with good communications skills in English and the ability to work well under pressure.

Meanwhile, 30 percent of the employers look for the qualifications of the candidates like graduate/post graduate degrees in Business Management, Commerce and Engineering. In terms of roles and experience, 40 percent of employers are seeking candidates with experience in managing a team and 30 percent of employees are seeking candidates with mid-level or three to seven years’ experience. Sales, marketing and engineering candidates are preferred by 40 percent of employers. Top recruiters in the UAE are looking to hire now, employers in the construction (42 per cent), banking/finance (35 per cent), tourism/hospitality (32 per cent) and recreation/entertainment (32 per cent) are attracting the top talent. Nearly 24% of the junior managers/team leaders, 23 per cent are middle managers and 13 per cent are directors or senior managers are participated in the survey. Almost all UAE companies are looking for the candidates with strong communication skills and being a team player.

So, it is important to fit the employer needs rather than having a revamped your social networking profile, polished CV and brushed up on interview etiquette.
