Recent report mentioned that talent demand dropped by 4 percent during January 2017, as hiring activities saw slow down across key sectors. Sectors such as legal, accounting, media and entertainment sectors saw rise in demand during the month. Other sectors like Healthcare, petrochemicals, oil & gas and travel & hospitality sectors saw maximum drop in talent demand in January 2017. Functional wise trends reveal that biotechnology and pharmaceutical professionals reported 24 per cent rise in demand during the month. There was a consecutive growth in demand for quality control, legal, law and oil & gas professionals. Location wise findings reveal that Tier II locations saw maximum demand, except Bangalore. The report also mentioned that there was a rise in demand for the professionals with more than 20 years experience. Entry level and mid level professionals saw drop in demand in January 2017.
IT/Telecom sectors saw stable talent demand in January 2017 and accounting sector registered 12% rise in demand for the candidates. This is also observed that legal and law sectors saw 20% rise in demand as compared to other sectors. Sectors such as Manufacturing & Engineering, BFSI, CRM/CallCentres/BPO/ITES/ Med.Trans, Consumer Durables/FMCG, Retailing, Petrochemicals/ Oil and Gas/ Power, Construction/Cement/Metal/ Steel/Iron sectors saw considerable down fall in Jan 2017 as compared to Dec 2016.
Functional wise recruitment trends reveal those professionals across IT/Telecom, Customer Service/ Tele Calling, Business Mgmt./Consultants/ Freelancers, Sales/Business Development, Accounting & Finance, Entertainment/ Media/ Journalism, Engineering saw down fall in Jan2017 as compared to Dec 2017. There was a rise in demand for the professionals like Quality/Process Control, Biotechnology/ Pharmaceutical/ R&D/ Scientist and Legal/Law functional roles.
Demand was more for the professionals across Bangalore, Chandigarh and Jaipur locations in Jan 2017. Other cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Lucknow, Ahmadabad and Hyderabad in Jan 2017 as compared to Dec 2017.
Candidates with less than 2 years experience saw drop in demand and mid level professionals with 2-5 years experience saw 4% drop in demand. Senior professionals with more than 20 years experience saw huge demand in Jan 2017.
