The Indian Automobile industry is considered to be one of the largest industries in the world with an annual production of 23.37 million vehicles in FY 2014-15, following a growth of 8.68 per cent over the last year. The Indian Automobile sector is expected to create millions of new jobs in coming years. According to the Automotive Mission Plan 2016-26 prepared jointly by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and the government, the sector has the potential to generate up to $300 billion in annual revenue by 2026 and create 65 million additional jobs. The opportunities will be across manufacturing, sales, service and technical service roles.

Manufacturing: Experts predict that there are huge opportunities in manufacturing and related profiles in the automobile sector. Of the total jobs, nearly 26 percent are for manufacturing roles only. Demand for entry level professionals is more and candidates with 2-4 years experience will be given preferred. Average salaries for entry level considered to be between Rs 1.5-2.5 lakh.

Sales: Sales is one of the top support roles in automobile sector. As many companies are expected to see an increased demand as companies strive to stay competitive. Channel sales and corporate sales are the in demand sales roles in automobile sector. Average salary for entry level considered to be between Rs 1.5-2.5 lakh.

Electrical: The automobile and auto component sector looking to hire electrical engineers and they are responsible for planning, executing and reporting appropriate validation activities in the digital and physical phases of vehicle development. Huge demand will be for entry level candidates followed by professionals with 2-5 years of experience.
