Passive recruitment is the new buzz word in the recruitment process of startups and established companies. The rise of recruitment through social media platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook, companies are increasingly looking to source talent from online platforms where subscribers log in to explore opportunities and network. It was observed that passive talent who are not actively looking for jobs contain 75 percent of the professionals across the globe. Some firms are hiring major recruits through social media platforms. “We spread the word across the friends group on our Facebook page and get references. We also do postings on social media feeds or postings on groups such as Just IITians or Just Start ups. Such profiles are never available on job sites as these candidates are normally passive job seekers, said an e-commerce firm recruitment head.
