Notice period is must if you are terminated or resigned for the job. So this is the crucial period to survive at the work place. Notice period is agreed at the time of joining by accepting the terms and conditions in offer letter. This is applicable to both the employee and employer to serve minimum pre determined period of notice period. Below are the mandatory conditions which you need to follow while you are serving notice period:
Be professional: Remember that you are still employee of the organization, that you have made a decision to quit your job. So don’t be casual and maintain professional attitude till the time of your relieving. Be on time to the office and deliver the work as usual. Don’t spoil your reputation gained during the period with your current employer.
Knowledge transfer: If you have any pending works complete them immediately. Employer knows that you are the source of critical information and knowledge at the work place and expect to transfer it to the fellow employees or your team. Act accordingly and take decision which doesn’t hamper the business growth.
Be natural: It is true that you have resigned and leaving the office soon. Be natural and don’t show your negative feelings if you have any to others. Treat your boss and team members with respect and get remembered by them always.
Documentation: Meet and discuss with the HR people about the requirements of clearance and certificates/letter from the concerned person. If your new job doesn’t require immediately then collect them as per your convenience.
Make a positive note: Make ensure that your ending should be good as well as your beginning and there is no meaning if you have ended with negative note. Let the organization open doors for future requirements. Have cordial relationships with your boss and ex-colleagues with great communication.
