India’s national flag carrier, Air India started recruiting process for 197 pilots in expectation of its fleet augmentation plans and retirements that will happen in the next two years. At present Air India has manpower strength of 1464 pilots as on 1st Feb, 2015. Since 2013 to 14 there was no recruitment and last year only one pilot was hired. For the FY 2012-13 only 2 pilots were hired the number was at 39 during 2011-12 financial year. “In view of the fleet augmentation and the retirements to take place in the next two years, Air India has advertised for filing up of 197 vacancies,” said Minister of State for Civil Aviation.
